Hello:)

a couple of months ago I had a photo shoot with a dear little friend of mine... we had been meaning to do this photo shoot for over a year. yes, over a year! it took us that long to get our schedules together. my original idea for her was for her to be a Christmas elf... it was December 2010 when i came up with that idea. it was november 2011 when we did the photo shoot.

my inspiration for her was to be a bunny... having a tea party in an old shed in the woods. i'm not gonna lie... it didn't turn out all that i wanted it to be (i am a perfectionist though and i rarely achieve what i feel like i should achieve), but they're fine. hope you enjoy!

Hello,

Well, I'm back from my trip. It was nice, but it's really good to be back home. :-)

I didn't realize quite how much I've missed editing photos until about an hour ago when I pulled up my first photo to edit - it's been a really long time since the last time I just chilled out and edited some of my best snaps. I've missed it, lots. Unfortunately my only laptop is broken {and borrowing a family member's can be an ordeal...}. This makes it really hard for me edit any photos.
Another problem being, living out in the country we have this lovely internet that only gives you a certain amount of bandwidth {internet usage}, and if you run out, you're out of internet for the next 24 hours {and your family might try to eat you for dinner:) }. Isn't that happy? So, yes, this makes uploading/editing photos on my online editing program very difficult (uses a lot of bandwidth). So... hopefully one day we'll get better internet out here (you'd think in this day & age we'd have a better option for our internet...). But until then, I'm just hoping for a new laptop - that would be very helpful.

Okay, well, that's all. I don't have a lot of photos to post - mostly in part to what I wrote above, but here are the few I have. These are completely random photos that I snapped while on vacation.

Candid at Starbucks. I believe she was messing with her iPod when I took this. I really like this photo, not sure why. It's not particularly amazing or anything... I just like the feel of it. It just looks like a piece of life captured.

Really, really neat-o bobble-glass thingys {I want some of these for my room! Ha:-) }.

BTW, who else is in love with Pinterest.com? Is it not the bestest, most genius site ever??? It's definitely handy for anyone who does photography.

Vacation!

Tomorrow at this time I will be headed to Branson MO - so exciting. My previously clean bedroom now looks like a hurricane ravaged through it, thanks to packing. I love packing for a trip though... it's so exciting. You can crank up the music, pop & dance around getting your stuff together, see how tiny you can fold your clothes into the suitcase (because it's always just so awesome to proudly hold up your suitcase, pronouncing it the smallest out of the whole family's and be oh-so-proud of yourself for packing so lightly), organize everything into mini containers (who doesn't find those little shampoo travel size bottles completely adorable??). Yes, it's all just so fun. And then you have all these fabulous lists with everything you need to pack, and get done (lists are so great). Yes, yes yes, so, next week - no updates. But when I get back I hope to have a myriad of new photos to post from my trip. :0)

Also, my photo shoot from last Friday got canceled due to rain. So no new photos from that. Within a couple of weeks (of getting back from my trip) I hope to do it though.

I wanted to post some new photos but my memory card reader is acting up. But, I thought a random-no-picture post was better then no post at all. Plus I wanted to let you guys know I'd be gone. :-)

Tomorrow I'll be sitting in the car for a good 12 hours. Thank God for my ipod (I'm uploading some poppin' new tunes for the trip, yay), and my crazy family to amuse me. ha.
Pleas pray a safe, fun trip for me (and that the hours tomorrow will pass quickly...)!

I realize it's been a while since I last updated. And I'm not going to waste time with a list of random excuses except to say that I needed a bit of a break... sometimes you simply need a break. I was growing weary of updating, feeling like I had nothing interesting to say, and that my photos all seemed to look the same. I often wish I was one of those people who could just ramble on about something totally boring and random, and sound interesting, but I'm not. So, you guys will just have to live with me, and hopefully still enjoy my photos. :-)

I suppose I should have stated that I was taking a break, but frankly I've hardly even logged into my blogger since I last updated. It wasn't this "okay, I'm going to take a break for 'blank' amount of time now, I need to let everyone know"... it just kind of happened, and I just allowed myself to chill out about it. I need to learn to chill.

During this time I have not stopped snapping. I have a photo shoot coming up this weekend that I'm very excited about and will definitely be posting the photos to!

Bellow I have some photos from a photo shoot I did with my sweet friend Kristen whom I took head shots for. She's a very talented aspiring young actress who was a pleasure to work with. Me and her have been taking dance lessons together for the past few years. She's such a sweet soul, a lovely dancer, and has a very bright smile that always lights up a room. :-) So, without further ado, here are my {4} favorites...

This past weekend I organized a group to go to an Astros baseball game (goooo Astros!!) and after the game they had a free David Crowder Band concert. How fun is that? :-) Double the fun for the price of one. ha. So, anyway, thought I'd post a couple of my favourites. They're not amazing... but the best I was able to get.

I love this picture and how it's so characteristic of people. Everyone in their own little bubbles, rushing around to get somewhere. Not thinking about anyone around them, just in their own little world.

When I'm in traffic I often look at all the people sitting in their cars and muse at the fact that everyone is trying to hurry and get somewhere. Everyone is in a rush, caught up in their own little world, with their own set of problems. Everyone is trying to get to where they're going. Some having a a good day, some having a bad day, some having a terrible day.

Sometimes we get so caught up in our little problems, we forget how many people there are around us who are dealing with so much more.

Hello Friends,

Lately I've had a lack of inspiration. And a lack of computer. Which equals a lack of posts lately. My computer, Priscilla, just "broke" one day. All the sudden. I took it into Apple, only to be told they don't work on G4s, they consider them "vintage" (which amused me somehow). The guy working there did look at it though and told me he thought it was probably the motherboard and that it would probably be better to buy a new computer at that rate. I was sad. Very sad, and took my computer home, placed it at the back of my closet, and... the end. No money to fix it, nor to buy a new one. Well, yesterday my dad randomly said "lemme take a look at your laptop". He examined it. Didn't find anything. He asked for the cord. I assured him it wouldn't come on. It was completely dead. Well, he plugged it in, pushed the power button, and VOILA. What do you know? It came on. And I'm still wondering what in the world happened? So very strange. Albeit, I'm just extremely happy to have my precious "Priscilla" laptop back.

As for lack of inspiration, that's coming back too, I think. Sometimes you just have to make yourself shoot, even when you feel the most un-inspired of un-inspired. So the other day I pulled out my camera and snapped some of these totally random, everyday pieces of my life. I hope you enjoy them.

A comb and bobby pins that were laying on my bathroom counter. I found them interesting, just strewn around in their random order, so I took a photo.

I love the simplicity of this photo. And the monkey, who's name is Timothy. He's a nightlight monkey that a dear friend of mine gave to me this past Christmas. I think he's adorable.

Our two {of four} dogs, Muffie and Guissppi. Guissppi is the one running, Muffie is the one staring into space.

Random, quirky photo... it's kind of goofy, but I like it. I love the light pouring in... And my owl shirt. :)

In closing... what do you guys do when you feel thirsty for inspiration? When everything starts to look the same? Sometimes I try to take photos that I believe others will like, and then I have to stop myself and remember I need to firstly take photos that I like. It doesn't matter what others think. And when I do that, they almost always come out better anyway.

a few weeks ago I realized planted in a wheelbarrow outside that there was a little nest. nestled in were multiple little baby birds. can you say utter cuteness? yes. they were really cute. whenever I'd take a picture of them they'd squeal and squeal. so presh. I think they thought my camera was their mommy.

saturday before last I had a photo shoot with my friend emily. my inspiration for her was to make her as a bird. not as in, oh wow, she looks like a bird, but more like subtle bird influences in her over-all costume. and, I love how it came out.

I hope you guys have as much fun looking at these as we had taking them... <3

during the course of the photo shoot I the bright idea to go out on the street and wave at oncoming cars, and, not only would it be hilar, but I could get a one-of-a-kind picture. albeit it probably wasn't the safest idea ("did you hear what he just yelled out?" "uh, no, I don't think I want to" *ahem*) I think it turned out pretty cool {although I do wish the car was in closer range}.

anndddd this is just a cute outtake that I wanted to post. :)

blackberries and rain boots

I love picking black berries. always have, ever since I was little. there's something just so cool about being able to go outside and pick something that you can actually eat. we have a huge black berry patch in our yard, and all the black berries are just starting to come in. it's wonderful. :)

whenever I go to pick some I have to make sure to put on my {rawther fabu} plaid rain boots... snakes! I actually saw one recently while picking the black berries. scared me so bad. yes. so. rain boots are good. plus I just feel so profesh in them. like a professional country girl or something. hehe.

aren't the berries beautiful? lately I've been putting them in smoothies. yum.

I'm still trying to get my bedroom together... get it decorated. I just have so many ideas, it's hard for me to get them all together. but I'm working on it. and when I do get it all together I can't wait to post pictures. :)

hello friends,

here I have some photos from a {mini} photo shoot I did with a friend, elizabeth {so she's actually more my older sister's friend, but all the same}. elizabeth is from virginia. she was here visiting a few days before heading on a mission trip to honduras.
I got home from ballet one evening and she wanted to do a quick photo shoot before dinner. so I grabbed my camera and headed outside {in my tights, skirt, and leotard. yes, quite the professional photographer;) }. it was a nice shoot, albeit the light was fading which was frustrating. I think the photos could've been better, but all well. that's just how it goes sometimes.

hello country life

well I am very excited to be putting up a new, "normal" blog post. it's been far too long. I've finally found my computer cord (last night. I was one happy girl). internet is working (at the moment, but, you never really know when it'll decide it's tired of working and zip off. it's kind of lame internet, but our only option right now).

we moved into our new house about two and one half weeks ago. the movers arrived bright and early on a thursday morning. I frantically did some last minute packing before I and my sister made an escape to whole foods (love that place) for some (in dire need of) coffee before we headed to our new home (it was so weird!). the movers eventually arrived, as well as some of our sweet friends who came to help us move. it made things so much more pleasant!

anyway, I will now share a few (totally random) pictures from moving day.

it's been an adjustment, no doubt. but things are finally seeming more normal. one thing I do miss is seeing people when I go running... but that has it's upside too. I l-o-v-e lip syncing. a lot. I just can't help it when I'm listening to my favorite tunes. running in a neighborhood, I couldn't do that, because, well, people would probably think I'm off my rocker (although I still did it sometimes. ha). but, now that I run with no one around but the trees, I can lip sync all the heck I want. and do my little head bop thingy too (because you can't have lip syncing without the head bop). and hand motions too, if I want. bliss. (and it's okay if you want to call me crazy now <3 I know)
I also miss not having to sit in the car for 45 min. to get some place. but, oh well.

sooo, yes, that was moving day. thanks so much to those of you who helped us move! it was a huge blessing.

hello friends! I feel so terrible for having left my blog MIA for the past two or so weeks. but, it's been pretty much out of my control for 3 reasons. #1. no internet for the first week here at my new house. #2. my computer cord decided to disapear. I'm still looking for it. #bummer. (right now I can use my sister's computer but only for short spurts of time). #3. I'm missing my memory card downloader. frusterating. so, between not having my laptop and not having a memory card downloader and internet being scarce I've been a very lame blogger. as soon as I get things together though I'm going to do a nice long post about my new house and all. but, for now, this is all... and a picture of a key that I already had downloaded onto my flickr. yes, I bet this is the most exciting post you've seen all week. *ehem* also, I have a prayer request. :) I'm really, really, really wanting to go to IPS in Colorado for the PWP2 course this September. I would absoulutly love to go. but not only would I need to save for the actual course, but also for quite a bit of new equimpent (and the plane ticket). and, unfortuantly, finances at this time are not permitting. sooo, prayers as to if it's God's will for me to go that He would provide financially would be fantastic. thanks guys!

this is beaux. up until this past week I was hired to go and visit/play with him every friday. with moving I knew I wouldn't get to see him anymore, so I wanted a good picture of him. I was very happy with it. I mean, look at that face. can't get much more presh.

and this is topsy. she's my cat. she's really quite beautiful. she looks fierce in this photo, but she's really very subdued.

when I was little, I was always creating stuff. mostly stuff to place with. I had a lot of fun when I was a kid. one of my favorite things to mess around with was sculpey. this awesome clay stuff that you'd sculpt into whatever your little heart desires, and then bake it. really cool stuff. so, I used to have a heck of a lot of fun with it. yesterday I was going through some of my stuff (with moving comes a lot of that) and came across some of my old sculpey creations. they were just laying there all cute. so how could I resist. I whipped out Gidget and snapped a few.

yeah, the pig has a lot of burgers & fries. he likes to eat. behind him is a tree. with a big nest right on top. with cute round little birdies in it. I think the birdies are my fav (see pic below).

below is a bunch of randomization from the house I'll soon be moving to. brace yourself.

that's my {new} room... at the end of the hall. this is just a sneak peek though. when I get moved in the room, and get it all decorated and awesome, I will do a room tour.

I'm in .love. with the color {though the photo doesn't quite do it justice}. it's -just- what I wanted. a perfect silvery, dreamy blue color.

and this is the house.

I brought my first box of things to my new bedroom; some random ballet pictures, glass vases, a ballerina/nutcracker snow globe (my parents gave it to me dance recital year before last... I love it. I love snow globes in general. there's something intriguing about them), a (vintage) Alice in Wonderland figurine and her white little bunny, and a (vintage) ballerina figurine.

this ballerina is just so cool.

this will be my last box until we actually move though. most everything else I have in my room is stuff I use on a regular basis.

there's Giuseppe. he's a sweet<3. he was just chillin' around while we were unloading boxes from our trailed. good golly, he's the hardest dog to take pictures of though. this is a rare capture.

boxes. lots of boxes. and so.many.more to come when we actually move. fun, fun.

yeah, so, that's a peak into what my new world will be like. it's really weird, moving. it'll be a big change, overnight, literally. from living in a very city neighborhood, close to everything, to out in the country on a lot of land that's far from a lot (a good 30 min. into town). it has it's pros though. a few of the pros are that I will have a lot of lovely land to do photography on... that's .really. exciting for me. I'm also really excited for my new bedroom. I have some cool decorating ideas for it, which I'm really excited to put into motion. and as I said earlier, I l-o-v-e the color. I'm also in love with the fact that it has wood flooring. I have a .strong. dislike for the carpet in my current bedroom. although l really will miss the three big windows I have in my current bedroom. but, oh well.

in my new room, I have a walk in closet. that's exciting. I have no closet at all in my current bedroom.

French Sidewalk Cafe

I took these a couple weeks ago when I and my sister were at a {very charming} little French sidewalk cafe. we had croissants and coffee. it was a beautiful evening with crisp air and just the right amount breezes... and pretty light. Some of you may know, a lot of you probably don't - I and my family are moving out to some property in the country. we go out to our property generally every weekend (and we'll finally be moving in a few weeks - yay). this past Sunday when I was there I went scouting about with my camera and ended up taking some pictures of some twigs. and a old barbed wire fence.

Photo shoot photos (finally!)

Hello dear friends!

I'm finally updating my blog with the photos from my photo shoot Saturday before last. The photo shoot was a lot of fun, albeit a little nerve wracking. The girl was very, very sweet and nice to work with though.

I took all these photos with my 50mm 1.8 lens. I now wish I would've used my 28-135 lens to take some of them, but at the time I wasn't thinking as clearly as I normally do (have I told you I was a little nervous yet? yeah).

Yes, well, I don't have a whole lot more to say... so, without further ado, here are my favorite photos from the shoot. :0)

The editing of these photos was new for me.... when I've done photo shoots in the past, I always just pick out my favorite 6-10 photos and edit those. Tada, done-I'm already tired of looking at them, haha. But for a client, you obviously have to pull out quite a bit more photos. But I think it's good for me, a good growing experience as a photographer.

As usual, I'd love to hear your thoughts and which photo/s are your favorite! I appreciate all your comments so much - you're all so sweet.

So. today is was supposed to snow (in the land where it practically never snows). but it didn't. which was very sad. I had all kinds of photo shoot ideas swirling around in my head for if it did. but that's just how it goes. I did manage to get some pictures of some very nice little icicles (a far cry from a photo shoot in the snow, yes... but oh well).

this photo is the epitome of today. icy, cold, and dreary.

the sweet things in life.

currently two of my (three) older sisters are out of town, in Chicago (unfair, yes). so, while the other two are away, I and my other sister planned a few fun things to do here on our own. like scoping out some awesome thrift shops, and getting very pretty-full cupcakes at a cute little cupcake shop. of course, the cupcakes were so lovely, a picture (or two) was in order.

mine was a lemon cupcake. something about lemon cake makes me feel reminiscent. not sure why. but I like the feeling.

also, this past Saturday I had my first photo shoot as a hired photographer. I was pretty nervous - I had never even met the girl before. but she was really sweet, and everything turned out well. I'm excited to post the photos. right now though, I still have some photos to finish editing. but stay tuned!

Introducing Priscilla.

*ahem* so, I got a laptop (my first solely-mine laptop, actually). and her name is Priscilla. and I thought I would introduce her (because I'm just special like that).

I love it. I also l-o-v-e my desktop background.

It's an Apple G4. An older model, so I got a really good deal on it. I love it. It's so cute and I love the size. For the price I payed, it can't be beat.

It's so nice to have a laptop of my own. To bring up to my room and just chill with Pandora playing (anyone else love Pandora?!). especially nice when I need to edit photos.

I also watermarked my first photo (above). I used to do that when I was a bit younger, but decided I didn't like it. now that I've began a business, I figured it's past time to start again. I like it now though.

I'm excited to announce...

...That I am now in the process of taking my photography from a beloved hobby to a business as a professional portrait photographer. I've been knowing that I wanted to do this for a long time. It was just a matter of time for me to feel ready. and I am ready.

Last night I opened up my Facebook business page - the first step for me in this new journey. I also hope to get a website up. I'm going to take it slow and steady though. I'm not in any huge rush. But I'm glad I've finally gotten started.

so, yes. I really think you should "like"(/fan) my new page! :-)

Last week I did a photo shoot. I had originally planned a Christmas photo shoot with a friend of mine, I had some really fun ideas... but unfortunately that didn't end up working out, so I had to settle on a more simple, self photo shoot.

I know none of these really follow the rule of thirds, but, I can't really help it when I'm doing self photo shoots.

Anyway, here are the photos.

I jumped off that ladder so.many.times. And still never got my ideal shot. But, I do like this one pretty well. I like the way my feet are positioned. And I like that my head is a bit out of the frame.

I just wish I had snow... but, what can I say, it's Texas...

What got me into photography and a Christmas slideshow...

When I was about 13 I joined some online message boards with adult/teenage (American Girl) doll collectors. They all took neat photos of their dolls, which in turn made me want to as well. I started shooting with an old camera that I don't even remember the model or brand of. Not long after that my family bought a Canon point and shoot, SD600. This camera became my best friend. :0) I took tons of pictures and made a few stop-motions (which I will post one of these days). I quickly found I loved taking photos!!

I used the point and shoot for quiet a while. It was only February before last that I bought my first DSLR, Gidget. :) <3>

For a couple of years there, at Christmas time, I would fill my room with multiple doll sized Christmas scenes.
Although I don't do that anymore, or even take photos of my dolls anymore, I love, love, love all the special memories I made when I did. And I love the fact that my dolls are what got me into photography. :0)

So, without further ado, here's the Christmas slide show I did back in 08 when I still had my point-and-shoot and my bedroom was more or less a Christmas doll village. :) Much of the miniatures and decor were things I had made myself.

Make sure your sound is on (and you can push "pause" on my blog's music if you just scroll down to the bottom of this page)!! The music adds a lot to the video... (gosh I love this song!)

Some of the dolls featured near the end were "Pullip" dolls -link-. They're Japanese made dolls and very cool and adorable. :0)

I really hope you enjoyed both my little story and my slide show!! Hope I didn't chatter on too long. I never know if people would prefer me to get right to the point, or if you guys enjoy reading stuff like this? Lemme know.

Merry Christmas, a new lens, and a few photos...

Hello everyone!

My blog has gotten it's yearly make over for Christmas. :0) New banner and music.

Here's a couple of pictures...

Alsoooo, I got a new camera lens (the two above photos I took with it)!!! So.exciting. :0) It's only the first lens I've bought (excluding the one that came with my camera of course). It's the 50mm f/1.8 lens. I had heard so many good things about it...plus, the price couldn't be beaten. I'm super, super happy with it!!! I'm still experimenting with it, but so far I'm (repeat) super happy.It's looks sooo cute on Gidget. :D It's so much smaller then my other lens, so it's weird.

My Dance Recital...:)

Hi Guys!!

This past Saturday was my dance recital. That of course means pictures! :o)

I was able to take some photos myself at the dress rehearsal that morning. That night at the actual recital my sister had my camera so she could take pictures of my dances... those all came out pretty bad, but I'll post some of them anyway.

This one I took before the dress rehearsal started, when I and some of the other girls were onstage warming up/getting the feel of the stage. :-) It's always so cool - the big empty stage. The lights. The empty rows of seats. I love it.

This was a jazz dance.

I really like this one...

I love this one. It looks kind of like a painting. It kind of, to me, captures the essence of ballet.

And then...here are the pictures I did not take; the ones that were taken at the actual recital. The one's that came out really bad. :p

This one is of my solo...I was Mary. :-)

This is of my group ballet dance (I told you the pics were bad...[it's still kind of cool looking though]).

These are from the group pointe dance.

I'm the one in the front, second person to the left.

My tap dance...we were 1930's flappers! It was so fun. We all made our own costumes. I'm the one in the green.

After the recital with the lovely roses my parents gave me. :)

And then afterward we went out to dinner with some sweet friends.

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!!

Hope everyone had a great-ful Thanksgiving day yesterday. :-)

Bellow is the cornucopia my sister made. It was beautiful!

Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's officially Christmas time which makes me sooo happy. :0) This afternoon will be spent bringing down Christmas decor from the attic, enjoying Christmas music, sipping on hot tea, and working on some sewing! I have to sew one of the costumes for my dance recital... and my dance recital is next Saturday which means I better get on it. : O

Hi guys,

I know it's been too long since I've updated.

I took a bit of a break from my blog for two reasons. One being that I was/am frustrated with my photos - I want to be so much better but I feel like I fall so short. And reason 2. I was a bit frustrated with my blog in general.

Yes, so, anyway. I figured it's high time I updated anyway.

These photos I took the other day of my dog Charlie (who was the hardest thing to get to sit still just for a couple of photos...). He's quiet the character. He's a very cool looking dog - almost fanciful looking when he's not acting, well, naughty *ahem*.

These two were my favorites...

(can you say model dog? ;) )

I'm going to get back into the swing of blogging regularly - promise (yes that's a pinky-pinky promise). :0)

This photo I took of my sister, Lea, when we were at Starbucks one day. I love the shadows and the soft light hitting her face. I also like the tilt of her head.

This photo I took because Lea needed new business pictures. This isn't the photo she ended up using, but it's the one I like best.

The two bellow photos are of my other sister, Marianna. Marianna got a hair cut which=pictures.
I looove her new hair. It suits her well. It looks mature yet still very youthful. It's also fun and unique.

I love this one. It looks so fall-ish.

A rainy day

The other day it was one of those cool, cozy, rainy days. so I went outside w/ a mug of coffee, and sat on my front porch and enjoyed the soft split-splat of the rain hitting my feet. I decided a few pictures were in order, so I ran back inside and got my camera.:)

It's that time of year again...back-to-school. I wanted to do a few photos with that in mind.

One good thing about back to school is...that it means fall is approaching. Which is epic to the most epic-ness of proportions. I'm so ready to say hello to beautiful color and fresh, crisp air. And say goodbye to this heavy heat.

These are of my sister Lea. We were at this quaint little restaurant one evening, and I noticed how pretty the light coming through the window was, and also noticed the plain wall in the background. Perfect for a pic.

This is why you should always carry your camera with you. You never know what may come your way!

I like the way these came out looking kind of like paintings.

I was also really happy with the boca in these.

Which one do you like better? I think I actually like the second one better...although I have a feeling most people will like the first one better, ha. I don't know, I just like the off perspective of the second one. The second one also vaguely reminds of a rose floating down into the ocean. Which I like.

Last week, seeing that it was starting to rain outside, I got my stuff together and went out into the pouring rain. Out my window and onto my roof that is. Heh, I wanted the pretty trees in the background. And plus I had to have a safe place to set my camera (under the cover of my window).

It was quiet poetic though. :O) And fun.

Hello!

So, I finished the pictures from the photo shoot Thursday before last.

The photo shoot in general went pretty well. Except for the fact that, about 30 minutes into driving to the photoshoot location, I realized I had left my camera battery at home. Yes. And I was already running late. Smart me. I ended up being about an hour and a half late to the shoot. Yes, fun times. I had a bit of a hard time because the light was fading fast. But it turned out fine enough.

I'm only going to post half the pictures as of now. The second half will be posted on a further date.

I'm posting the Wizard of Oz photos first. I wanted to do kind of an "off" version of Dorothy.

One of my older sister's got her hair cut short (the first time since she was around 11). And so of course this meant picture time. :-)

Here are a few of the ones I took.

I love the way her eyes pop in this picture...

A silly one. :0) I like the way the lighting/coloring came out in this picture.

Tomorrow I go on a photoshoot with two friends of mine (they're sisters). I'm excited. :D One of the sisters will be modeling as Dorothy from The Wizard of Ozz. And the other will be just random, vintage.

Pray that it goes really fantastic, and that the weather will be ah-mazing and basically perfect for taking pictures. :0)

Saturday evening I returned from IPS. It's good to be home, but also sad. Just because I had such an amazingly wonderful time over at IPS.

I learned a lot. A lot, a lot. And this is really exciting! :0) Anyway, just wanted to share a few pictures I took while I was at IPS....

Below is me taking a picture during a photoshoot. I and my fellow photographer where trying to find something that said "hot". I saw this cool room and went in. There was a mirror mounted on the wall, so I took a snap. I love how empty the room is and also the light reflecting off the floor.

This photo is of a bride's gloves. It was when we where at a botanical garden one day doing a photoshoot. I was looking for a picture that would say "peace". I saw the bride, and asked if I could take a picture of her.

A picture I took of one of my classmates...

A butterfly. I've never been able to get a picture of a butterfly before. So I was really happy with this. :0) I really love this picture. Especially because it kind of has a dreamy-esque feel.

A Garden Gnome... and Something Exciting :0)

Hey Guys!

So, for a while now I've really been wanting to go to one of the IPS (Institute of Photographic Study) workshops/camps (whichever you choose to call it). They have them in various places around the country throughout the year (yay for being wordy :P).

They are having one in the San Antonia area at the end of this month. I've had my eye on this workshop ever since I first saw it announced. Financially though, I was only just now able to sign up for it... the day of the deadline. :P I'm very excited! I feel like I really need some basic training in photography... So, yes, this should be good for me. :0)

Today is a my precious camera, Gidget's, B-DAY! It's her first b-day with me (awww.). Gidget has been such a great little camera.

Of course being as spoiled as she is she just *had* to have cuppy-cakes and a b-day hat. Isn't she CUTE?! :P :)

Yes, er, um...I'm not denying she's spoiled.

Happy b-day to the bestest camera ever! Gidget was/is my first DSLR camera. I hope to always keep and treasure her.

Photoshoot with Leah Pictures; Set One

A while back Leah had offered to model for me sometime for a photoshoot. We finally got around to doing one a few Saturdays ago.

I want to thank Leah H. *so* much for being such a fantastic model. She was so pliable and easy to work with.

I also want to thank my sister, Michelle, for being our "chauffeur". She had to wait a long time for us.....so a big thanks to my sister!

Anyway....moving on...here are the pictures! I have a second set of photos coming up too...but I still need to edit them.

A Very Alice Photoshoot-my take on Alice in Wonderland

Last week I finally, finally got around to doing an Alice in Wonderland photo shoot-something I've been wanting to do for a very long time. On the spur of the moment I went and dug through some old dress up clothes, found a good headband, got my tripod, and went on a venture in my oh-so-muddy backyard *ahem*. Yes, very muddy.
.
Doing self photoshoots isn't very easy (although are sometimes necessary)...especially when your backyard is very muddy and you must go sloshing through thick mud each and every time you click the 10 second self timer for a new picture. Here's how it goes. You first make sure your camera is at just the right angle (which isn't easy with a half broken tripod...) and is in good focus. You press the click-ey button and the race is on through the sloshing mud and to your destination upon which you must look serene (or whatever emotion you're trying to capture in that photo...) and candid (generally you don't). Then you do this about a million more times until you get one decent photo (and you're lucky to get one). Then you move on to your next scene. And do it all over again.

By the time I was done my feet were soaked in mud, I had blisters on the backs of my feet (so I got to limp around everytime I wore shoes for the next few days), and my fingers were numb (it was cooold). But anyway, yes, I will spare all my readers from any further ranting and move on. Here are the photos!!! First I just had to have my fair share of ranting though... :P

I wanted the photos to look kind of dreary, mysterious, and dreamy...not sure if I achieved this or not.
. But, without further ado (I promise) here they are!
