chicks and fluff. extra-extra; friday

to start this friday's extra-extra off with a bang... wait, i mean a chirp-chirp - i have many photos (as promised) to share with you of these squawking little bits of fluffy cuteness... the newest additions to my family.

i also just realized how perfect it is that these are photos of chicks... it's easter weekend! happy easter.

more rainy days...

happy easter, my friends. i hope it's lovely.

365 - Twelve. all these little things.

Week twelve of my 365 project...

Wednesday: photo seventy-seven: do you ever go in a parking garage and just love.those.shadows hanging out everywhere? oh, and all the arrows/leading lines? yes, yes! it's lovely. one day i really do need to do a photo shoot in one. until then... this photo will have to suffice.

Thursday: photo seventy-eight: driving through the rain. on a dark, dark, dark, exponentially cloudy day. i love it. at least as much as driving on a crisp, bright day. it's so cozy. the car lights... the soft putter-putter of rain... and the slooow whoop-whoop of windshield wipers. add in some soft classical music piping through the stereo and you've almost got perfection.

Friday: photo seventy-nine: what's warmer or funner than just out-of-the-oven, homemade pies? not much! these two custard pies are the workings of my older sister.

Saturday: photo eighty: sewing. needles. thread.

Sunday: photo eighty-one: gardens. it's that time of year for them. it's the turn of the season, which equates a turn of activities and life. fresh life... fresh gardens. i'm not the biggest gardener (um, by any stretch. ANY stretch) however other people in my family are much more diligent than i in attempts (note: attempts) to be self sustaining with a veggie garden (and pretty flowers to admire).

Monday: photo eighty-two: mark it in the history book, please. for once (and i really do mean this) one of my meals (breakfast) looks vaguely* photogenic. and even then, not largely. my meals are generally strangely combined and even stranger in appearance. this was a leisurely breakfast of grapes (piled into a quint teacup) and a gf, chocolate chip-coconut bar thingy.

Tuesday: photo eighty-four: none-chain restaurants are the coolest. especially non-chain restaurants that have authentic turkish food. and authentic-directly-from-turkey waiters/waitresses. i go to this place on occasion and everything there is good. it was a beautiful spring evening with the soft evening sun beaming on my arm when i snapped this photo.

Wednesday: photo eighty-three: chickens. oh yes... and oh dear, chickens. you can't deny it - they're adorable in the here and now. you can't reject a fuzzy lil' ball of feathers. unfortunately, however, as we all know... this will change. and these cute little frizz-balls will turn into big chickens... chickens who are a lot of work... and, well, not very clean (note: i am by no means a germ-phobe, but chickens are pushing it a pinch). but, we will have farm fresh eggs and that is pretty nifty. :)

isn't this one a cutie? it's black.

oh, and because these little guys are just so darn cute... i'll be posting too-many-more photos of them on this friday's extra-extra. :)

that's a wrap.

difference between try and triumph is a little umph! 365: week eleven

i have a confession. i didn't really put my heart into this this past week's 365. bad me. not that these photos are terrible per say, but at best they're a bit scattered and not altogether what i want. i think it shows, a lot, when you don't really put your heart into something. especially art. i think i've began to sink back into my self-critizing mode (the one that's overboard with critique). i think it's easy to get discouraged when you don't feel like your efforts are reaping any benefits... when you feel like no one is even looking at your work. but that's when you have to put that little bit of extra umph and grow yourself a bit! i was just reminding myself of a wonderful quote i'd seen a while back on pinterest... "the difference between try and triumph is a little UMPH". i think it's so true and such a wonderful reminder!

so all that to say - next week i plan to put my heart into it more... to put that bit of an extra umph into my work and to just keepin' pushin' forward - even when i don't feel like i'm getting anywhere!

Wednesday: photo sixty-nine: shadows of my window, in my room.

Thursday: photo seventy: in my room. at my desk. using my favorite type of water glass (a clear glass jar), my laptop humming, and music playing (matt kearney is pretty fantastic)... and afternoon's light and shadows meeting together painting murals across my possessions.

Friday: photo seventy-one: lately i've taken to spending a lot of time outside when i can. i've discovered i love opening the back door of my house and sitting in the door frame where the sun and fresh air are more than plenty, and the soft breezes soothe my pounding thoughts, and where bare feet are more than acceptable.

Thursday: photo seventy-two: riding in the car. the first of spring (*ahem*morelikesummercauseit'sintheupper80s) calls for the first use of air conditioning in the car - at least the first time in a long time. hi summer; hi bike riding, funny tan lines, and long days... it's good to see you again.

Saturday: photo seventy-three: the sun is bright... and temps are high(er)... yes, it's the first time being able to pull out my summer shoes since early fall of last year!

Sunday: photo seventy-four: hey hey it's st. patty's day! me and st. patty's day are best friends. i love st. patty's day. i mean it's kind of like having a whole holiday dedicated to being festive just for the sake of being festive (okay, at least that's how i see it in my eyes.). i always say you can immediately spot all the "fun" people from the "boring" people on st. patty's day simply by judging who is wearing green. ;)

Monday: photo seventy-five: windows.

Tuesday: photo seventy-six: dimension. i love the dimension in the walls in my room. that's the first thing i see in the morning when i open my sleepy eyes. the stark walls folded against each other - the light, dark, light. i like it.

that's it...
